Gonda: The district-level junior sports competitions for boys and girls for the 2025–26 session have commenced in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The three-day event is being organised from March 17 to March 19 at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium under the guidance of the Directorate of Sports Uttar Pradesh.
The competitions began with volleyball and basketball matches on the opening day. The inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Ashish Tripathi as the chief guest, along with Neeraj Maurya and Prince Chaurasia.
During the opening ceremony, the guests interacted with the participating athletes and encouraged them to give their best performances in the competitions. They praised the spirit of sportsmanship among the young players and highlighted the importance of sports in developing discipline, teamwork and physical fitness.
Participants from various parts of the district are competing in the three-day event, showcasing their sporting talent and determination. The tournament is expected to promote sports culture among youth and provide a platform for budding athletes to demonstrate their abilities at the district level.
