Decline in Manufacturing Sector a Major Cause of Unemployment

Myorpur: Expressing deep concern over reports from Sonbhadra district workers about the deteriorating economic conditions of common people, All India People’s Front (AIPF) founder Akhilendra Pratap Singh attributed a significant portion of the issue to the decline in the manufacturing sector. Speaking at a meeting at the Raspahari office as part of his “Right to Employment” campaign tour in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, and Varanasi, Singh emphasized the importance of addressing the imbalance in the credit-deposit ratio to combat poverty and unemployment in underdeveloped regions like Sonbhadra.

Highlighting the challenges faced by residents, particularly tribals, Dalits, and marginalized communities, Singh called for a focused sub-plan in the state budget with increased allocations for their development. He noted the need to prioritize basic necessities and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Regarding the Uttar Pradesh government’s announcement to provide ₹5 lakh in funding to youth for employment, Singh argued that the amount should be given as a grant for starting new enterprises rather than as loans. He suggested raising the first installment to at least ₹10 lakh and ensuring banks disburse funds promptly without unnecessary delays.

Poverty and Unemployment: A Result of Economic Mismanagement

Singh remarked that rising poverty, unemployment, and inflation are not acts of divine intervention but consequences of economic mismanagement by the government. He proposed reducing the tax burden on common citizens, introducing a fair wealth tax on corporate houses, and cracking down on black money to address these issues.

He also criticized the Modi government’s highly publicized scheme of providing 5 kilograms of grains, calling it insufficient for even a week’s needs. Instead, Singh advocated for increased investment in skill development and the manufacturing sector to create sustainable livelihoods.

Discussing the migration of deposited funds from Sonbhadra to other states, Singh stressed the need to address the credit-deposit ratio imbalance. He recommended setting up large-scale skill development centers, polytechnics, and ITIs in backward regions like Sonbhadra, Chandauli, and Mirzapur to create employment opportunities for the local population.

Constitution: A Heritage of the National Movement

Singh criticized recent remarks made by religious leaders about the Constitution, describing them as unwarranted interference in political affairs. He emphasized that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but a legacy of India’s national movement, rooted in the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity.
