Chennai: In the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 78 runs. With this victory, CSK has taken a huge leap to third place in the points table. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was chosen man of the match for his excellent batting.
In the match played at Chennai’s home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, batting first, scored a huge score of 212 runs for three wickets in 20 overs on the basis of half-centuries from captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell.
In reply, Hyderabad’s batting was very poor. In such a situation, the entire team was reduced to 134 runs in 18.5 overs. In this, Aiden Markram scored 39, Heinrich Klaasen scored 20 and Abdul Samad scored 19 runs. For Chennai, Tushar Deshpande gave a strong performance and took four wickets while Mathisa Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman got two wickets each.
Earlier, Chennai, batting first, scored 212 runs for three wickets in 20 overs thanks to captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 98 runs and Daryl Mitchell’s 52 runs. Hyderabad won the toss and decided to bowl first and fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave the first blow to Chennai by dismissing opener Ajinkya Rahane.
After this, however, Ruturaj and Daryl Mitchell batted brilliantly and supported the team by making a century partnership of 107 runs for the second wicket. This is Gaikwad’s third half-century of IPL 2024. Daryl was also successful in scoring a half-century.
Mitchell hit seven fours and one six in his innings of 32 balls. After this Shivam Dubey supported Gaikwad well. Gaikwad continued his aggressive innings from the other end and was close to scoring his second consecutive century. However, T Natarajan prevented Gaikwad from scoring a century by dismissing him on the second ball of the last over. Gaikwad faced 54 balls and hit 10 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.
Chennai bowlers performed brilliantly
Shivam Dubey also batted aggressively and returned unbeaten after scoring 39 runs in 20 balls with the help of one four and four sixes. Dhoni also remained unbeaten after scoring five runs with the help of one four in two balls. For Chennai, Tushar Deshpande gave a strong performance and took four wickets while Mathisa Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman got two wickets each.
