Varanasi: In an inspiring and symbolic gesture, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath donned the role of a teacher during his two-day visit to Varanasi, transforming a serene college courtyard into a lively open-air classroom. The occasion took place at Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya, located on the banks of the Ganga, where he attended a national seminar on tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda as the chief guest.
What unfolded was a heartwarming and unusual scene. Surrounded by nature, the CM took the teacher’s chair under a canopy of trees, while cabinet ministers, party leaders, and even the college principal sat before him as enthusiastic students. The event echoed the ancient gurukul tradition, reviving memories of a time when education took place under the open sky in harmony with nature.
A Lesson in Environmental Harmony
Speaking during the session, CM Yogi emphasized the importance of protecting nature, especially in an era where “concrete jungles” are taking over green spaces. He lauded the college’s open-class system for blending academic learning with natural surroundings and called the campus a “living example of co-existence with nature.”
To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister planted a Parijat (Night Jasmine) tree within the campus, symbolizing his commitment to environmental conservation. In return, the college faculty gifted him a Tulsi (Holy Basil) plant, reinforcing the message of sustainable living and respect for India’s natural heritage.
