Chairman of Minority Commission calls for smooth Moharram

Lucknow: Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission,  Ashfaq Saifi  expected the Additional Chief Secretary Home/Urban Development/Energy Department to ensure law and order, cleanliness, sprinkling of water at various places and smooth electricity supply in view of Moharram ‘Yoga-e-Ashura’ to be celebrated on July 17, 2024.

He informed that the said festival is celebrated in the entire state. On this occasion, people of the Muslim community take out processions in memory of the martyrs of Karbala, mourn and set up Sabils at various places.

Saifi said that the Moharram procession should be taken out only from the prescribed route. Proper security arrangements should be made on the procession route. Along with the arrangement of cleanliness on the route of the procession, water should be sprinkled at various places.

He said that in view of the scorching heat, arrangements for pure drinking water should also be made for the Taziadars. On the occasion of Moharram, traditionally very high Tazias are taken out at some places.

There is a possibility of accident if the person comes in contact with the electric wires. The electric wires coming in the way of the procession should be raised and arrangements should be made to replace the worn out wires.  Saifi said that arrangements should be made to clean the place where the tazias are buried in Karbala.
