Lucknow airport observes 2nd Aviation Security Culture Week

Lucknow: Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the globally diversified Adani Group, and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Lucknow Region inaugurated the 2nd Aviation Security Culture Week 2024 at the airport.

The week-long celebrations were inaugurated by  Bhuban Joshi, Deputy Director, BCAS – Lucknow Region and  Darshan Singh, Chief Airport Officer, CCSI Airport by lighting the lamp in the presence of representatives from Lucknow Airport, Airlines, Airport Security Group of CISF, Ground Handling Services.

A CCSI Airport spokesperson said, “Safety and security are the cornerstone of our operations at Lucknow Airport. Since ‘Safety is everybody’s job’, we will celebrate the 2nd Aviation Security Culture Week 2024 to honour the steadfast dedication of BCAS, AAI, ASG Unit of CISF, Airlines and other airport security teams towards the airport. All stakeholders work tirelessly to ensure security in every aspect of the airport.”

The spokesperson further added, “We request passengers not to carry prohibited items in their luggage and remove all such items before going for screening. This will reduce the time taken in security checks and improve the safety of passengers as well as crew. By focusing on this aspect, the airport aims to increase awareness among passengers about prohibited items and ensure implementation of best practices in security screening processes.”

During the week, CCSI Airport will organise various security awareness related activities for passengers such as distribution of pamphlets on prohibited items that should not be carried in check-in and hand baggage, quiz and drawing competitions for passengers as well as quizzes organised by airlines on the theme of aviation security.

The airport has introduced various security technologies at the new Terminal 3 to enhance efficiency and passenger convenience. These include:

  • Digi Yatra
  • 2D scanners at the entry gates for faster and smoother movement of passengers
  • E-gates in the pre-embarkation area
  • New equipment and technology for passenger safety
  • In-line baggage handling system for baggage security
  • Dual view screening system in automatic tray retrieval system
  • 3D view scanners for check-in baggage
  • The airport has also installed other state-of-the-art security equipment to keep passengers safe.
