Bareilly: Reacting to the Union Budget, Aditya Murthy, Secretary of SRMS Trust and Director of SRMS Medical College, hailed the budget as progressive, strengthening both the country’s economy and healthcare sector. In an exclusive interview with The Lucknow Tribune, he expressed his views on the budget’s provisions for the healthcare sector and its overall impact on the nation.
Murthy highlighted the significant relief provided to the middle class, noting that the exemption of individuals earning up to ₹12.75 lakh annually from income tax would greatly benefit this demographic. He also praised the government’s decision to remove the duty tax on 36 life-saving medicines for serious illnesses, a move that would provide substantial assistance to patients in need of critical care.
Furthermore, the announcement to increase the number of medical college seats by 75,000 and establish daycare cancer centers in all district hospitals was seen as a major boon for the healthcare sector. Murthy emphasized that these initiatives would enhance healthcare services and make them more accessible to the common people, ensuring that more individuals receive quality medical care.
Overall, Murthy described the budget as one focused on infrastructure development and a “budget for the common people,” underscoring its potential to positively impact the healthcare sector and the broader economy.
