Ayodhya Deepawali a cut above the rest

Ayodhya: Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Ayodhya will be illuminated with 28 lakh lamps in ‘Deepotsav-2024’ on Wednesday (October 30) and preparations for this are on in full swing. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’  with the slogan “Sabka Utsav-Ayodhya Deepotsav”, “Preparations for Deepotsav are in the final stage, diyas are being installed … trials of laser, sound, drone shows of artists are going on.”

Tight security arrangements in Ayodhya

Tight security arrangements have been made in Ayodhya and the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar is personally monitoring it. This is the eighth year of Deepotsav-2024 in Ayodhya. It started in 2017 after the Bharatiya Janata Party government was formed in UP. This time a target has been set to light 28 lakh lamps on the ghats of Saryu river in Ayodhya. On 22 January this year, Lord Shri Ramlala was installed in the grand newly built temple in Ayodhya. This time there is a plan to light a special kind of lamp in Ramlala’s temple. Grand and “eco-friendly” preparations are underway for the first Diwali in the newly built Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple.

Ram temple will be decorated with attractive flowers

A spokesperson of the state government said that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple will be decorated with attractive flowers. He said that keeping in mind environmental protection, special wax lamps will be lit in the premises of the temple building, which will emit the least amount of carbon. In this Deepotsav, a confluence of spirituality, tradition and culture will be seen in Ram Nagari. On October 30, along with Uttarakhand’s Ramlila, artists from six countries … Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia will stage Ramlila on the main stage at Ramkatha Park. Artists from other states will also perform on Deepotsav. In this, Madhya Pradesh’s Nidhi Chaurasia’s team will perform on Badhawa, Assam’s Sanhal Devi on Bihu, Maharashtra’s Shraddha on Lavani, Telangana’s Sridhar Vishwakarma on Gusadi, Jharkhand’s Srishtidhar Mahato and team on Chhau dance, Bihar’s Mahima on Jhijhiya, Rajasthan’s Mamta Devi on Kalbelia/Ghoomar folk dance, Jammu’s Mohammad Yasin and his team on Rauf folk dance.

One and a half lakh cow lamps will be lit

An official statement said that the Animal Husbandry Department will light one and a half lakh cow lamps on the occasion of Deepotsav in Ayodhya. On Monday evening, Animal Husbandry Minister Dharmpal Singh met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and symbolically presented cow lamps and other cow products. 28 lakh diyas will be lit on 55 ghats of Saryu river, which will be established as a world record. More than 30 thousand volunteers have been deployed to decorate these diyas.

According to a spokesperson of the state government, these special lamps will protect the temple building from stains and soot and will also provide light for a long time. The state’s information department has made arrangements for live telecast of the entire event. All the programs taking place at Ram Ki Paidi on the day of Deepotsav will be shown live on Doordarshan and social media platforms.
