Lucknow: UPMRC’s Agra Metro Project was selected as a winner in 16th CIDC (Construction Industry Development Council) Vishwakarma Award , a prestigious award in the civil construction and infrastructure category.
It is to be noted that Agra metro has set a record of completion of the underground stretch of the 6 km long priority section, which became operational on 6th March 2024, in just 23 months from the date of award of contract.
The tunneling work was completed in a record time of just 11 months, where the TBM Yamuna was launched in February and tunnel works were completed in December.
Under the aegis of NITI Ayog, CIDC is an autonomous organisation that promotes standardisation and quality control in the field of construction and development in the country.
Every year, CIDC acknowledges top construction projects in the country and the same are awarded in the category of outstanding construction projects after a thorough inspection and a detailed application form.

This year, a team of officials from CIDC visited Agra Metro Project in the month of January for a two day inspection visit. The team inspected the operational as well as construction site, various standards and designs of the stations and further sent their recommendations to the management for this prestigious project.
On the occasion, MD UPMRC Shri Sushil Kumar Congratulated team Agra Metro and said that this award was dedicated to the hardwork and persistent efforts of the team of UPMRC and the contractor staff.
UPMRC’s Lucknow Metro Project won the Vishwakarma Award for Best Project in the year 2024. This year, Agra Metro Project has bagged this prestigious award, highlighting the quality and standards followed by UPMRC in delivering world class metro projects in Uttar Pradesh.
