Lucknow: Under the aegis of Faculty of Yoga and Alternative Medicine, Lucknow University and Inter University Centre for Yogic Science, University Grants Commission, New Delhi, the university is organizing various programs in the sequence of International Yoga Day 2024.

A yoga camp was inaugurated on a boat at Kudia Ghat of Gomti river with conch and flute playing at sunrise in the morning. Yogasanas were demonstrated by the teachers and students of the Yoga Faculty. On this occasion, asanas like Uttan Mandukasana, Parvatasana, Ushtrasana, Trikonasana and Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari Pranayama, Sheetkari Pranayama were practiced by the instructor of the department, Dr. Ramkishore.

Dr. Amarjeet Yadav, Coordinator of the Faculty of Yoga and Alternative Medicines, said that there is an ancient belief that practicing yogasanas on a boat in the river increases the immunity of the body because such practice increases the working capacity of the lungs, heart and muscles.

By practising in the river, the lungs of the human body become active, as a result the amount of oxygen in the body starts getting balanced. Carbon dioxide which is harmful for the body is rapidly expelled from the body. The level of energy and consciousness in the body increases. When the rays of the sun fall on the river water, a special type of energy manifests at that place.

By doing yoga in such an environment, the blood circulation in the body is balanced and the toxicity of the body is reduced. The working capacity of the brain which is full of mysterious possibilities increases. The liver is the chemical laboratory of the body. If yoga is done along with a balanced diet, then the liver remains healthy.

In the above session, students of Yoga Faculty, Lakshmi Rani Yadav, Smriti Ojha, Ritika Mishra, Anamika Chaudhary, Swarnim, Pushpa Roma Hemwani, Deepa Srivastava, Shikhar Shukla, Rajendra Diwakar, Savita Ranjan, Archana Verma, Varsha, Jyoti Mishra, Jyoti Joshi, Shweta Srivastava, Jigyasa, Preeti Manuj, Vyakhya Singh, Hansika, Piyush Tiwari, Asha, Seema Sanjay Bhardwaj, Pratik Kesarwani, Akash Yadav participated in the camp.
