BSP Chief Mayawati Hints at Successor, Signals Support for Akash Anand at Mega Rally

Lucknow: In a major political development, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati  indirectly hinted at naming Akash Anand as her successor, sending a clear message to party cadres during a massive rally held on the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram.

Addressing lakhs of supporters, Mayawati said,“Just as you stood with Kanshi Ram and later supported me, in the same way, support Akash Anand along with me.” This statement has sparked intense speculation in political circles that Mayawati has informally declared Akash Anand as the future chief of the BSP.

Massive Crowd Signals BSP’s Revival, Claims Mayawati

Visibly energized by the record-breaking turnout, Mayawati asserted with confidence that the BSP will form the government in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.

“Looking at this historic crowd, it is certain that BSP will return to power in 2027,” she said. Supporters from Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand also attended, showcasing the party’s pan-India reach.

Target of 5 Lakh Supporters Achieved

The party had set a target of mobilizing five lakh people, making special transport arrangements from every district.
Leaders confirmed that delegations from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and other states also arrived in large numbers, filling the rally ground to capacity.

Attack on Congress, BJP, SP and EVMs

Mayawati launched a scathing attack on rival parties, accusing them of **conspiring to stop BSP from reaching power at the Centre after 2007**, when BSP formed a full majority government in UP.

She alleged:

Congress, BJP and SP joined hands against BSP.
EVMs were used to manipulate elections**, replacing ballot papers to “play with democracy”.
“Elections can be conducted peacefully and transparently using ballot papers,” she argued.

“Congress Insulted Constitution and Ambedkar”

Targeting Congress first, Mayawati said:
“Congress imposed Emergency and insulted the Constitution and the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.”

She claimed Congress never truly honoured Dalits or Ambedkar, and accused its leaders of “drama” by carrying copies of the Constitution today.

What the Announcement Means

By openly asking supporters to back Akash Anand, Mayawati has sent the strongest signal yet regarding the BSP’s future leadership structure. Political observers believe this move is aimed at organisational continuity, youth outreach and preventing internal power struggles.

With the 2027 UP Assembly elections in sight, Mayawati’s message was loud and clear—BSP is preparing for a comeback, and a generational transition may already be underway.
