Lucknow: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Department has unveiled an ambitious plan to build state-of-the-art theme parks and experience centres in the holy cities of Mathura and Ayodhya, centered around the divine life stories of Lord Krishna and Lord Ram. These projects aim to transform religious tourism through innovation and creativity, while also promoting the state’s “Waste to Wonder” policy by utilizing scrap materials and city waste in construction.
Krishna Lok Park and Shri Purushottam Experience Centre
In Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, a ‘Krishna Lok Park’ will be developed in the Mathura-Vrindavan region. The park will use 3D imaging, interactive models, and light-and-sound shows to depict various episodes from Krishna’s life—ranging from his birth, the slaying of Putana, Bakasura, and Kansa, to scenes from the Mahabharata including the Geeta Updesh and his Vishwaroop.
The park will also include a special children’s zone with swings designed like flutes and peacocks, recreating the essence of Dwapar Yug’s Mathura-Vrindavan landscape.
Ayodhya’s Ram-Themed Attractions
In Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, two new attractions are set to be developed: the ‘Lav-Kush Park’ and the ‘Shri Purushottam Darshan Experience Centre’. The Lav-Kush Park will depict significant moments from the lives of Lord Ram’s sons, Lav and Kush, and include a dedicated entertainment zone for children. Features will include selfie points, archery zones, horseback rides, obstacle courses, and learning areas.
The experience centre will utilize cutting-edge technology such as interactive LED walls, wall murals, projection systems, and touch kiosks to immerse visitors in Lord Ram’s divine journey. Both sites are expected to be major tourist attractions and hubs for spiritual reflection.
A Model of “Waste to Wonder”
Both theme parks will follow the “Kachre se Kanchan” model, similar to UP Darshan Park in Lucknow and Shivalay Park in Prayagraj. Built using urban waste and metal scrap, these parks will not only serve as artistic marvels but also generate revenue for urban local bodies through tourism.
A Boost to Spiritual Tourism
These projects are envisioned to elevate religious and spiritual tourism in Uttar Pradesh by combining faith, technology, and eco-conscious design. Once completed, the parks will offer immersive experiences to pilgrims and tourists alike, cementing Mathura and Ayodhya’s place as global destinations for faith-based travel.
With detailed plans already presented to the Chief Minister, work on these iconic parks is expected to begin soon, setting a new benchmark in faith-centric urban development.
