Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated India’s new consulate in the city of Marseille on Wednesday. PM Modi is currently on an official visit to France at the invitation of President Macron. The two leaders pressed a ceremonial button to mark the inauguration, amidst an enthusiastic crowd displaying the national flags of both India and France.
Prior to the inauguration, Modi and Macron visited the historic Mazargues Cemetery to pay tribute to Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I. Following this solemn ceremony, the leaders also interacted with members of the gathered crowd, further strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The establishment of the new consulate in Marseille is expected to enhance trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic engagement between India and France, reflecting the deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
