₹87.29 Crore Sanctioned for 10 Tourism Development Projects in Gorakhpur: Jaiveer Singh

Plan to place Gorakhpur firmly on the tourism map and attract more visitors

Lucknow/Gorakhpur |  In a major boost to tourism infrastructure in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the state Tourism Department has sanctioned ₹87.29 crore for 10 development projects in Gorakhpur district for the financial year 2024–25. The projects aim to enhance tourism facilities and improve infrastructure across key religious and cultural sites in the region.

Uttar Pradesh Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Jaiveer Singh, shared the update today, stating that the projects are part of the state’s plan to put Gorakhpur firmly on the tourism map and attract a greater number of tourists. Most of the projects have been approved based on proposals made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. The execution of the works will be overseen by Uttar Pradesh Projects Corporation Ltd., the State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd., and C&DS. Strict instructions have been given to ensure high quality and timely completion of all work.

Among the major projects are the integrated tourism development of Gorakhtalaiya and Kabir Bhumi, as well as the promotion of the birthplace of spiritual icon Paramhansa Yogananda. Under the district planning proposals, beautification and tourism development work will be carried out at the Shiv Mandir located on Jail Road in Sadar Tehsil, as per a proposal from the District Magistrate of Gorakhpur.

Under the Chief Minister Tourism Development Participation Scheme, several constituency-specific proposals have also been approved. These include:

  • Tourism development of Mahadeva Shiv Mandir in Khajni constituency, proposed by MLA Shri Ram Chauhan

  • Development of the ancient Kali Mata Temple in Brahmpur block, proposed by MLA Shravan Kumar Nishad from Chauri-Chaura

  • Enhancement of the Jai Maa Karwal Dei temple site in Gagaha, proposed by MLA Dr. Vimlesh Paswan from Bansgaon

  • Tourism development of the historic Samay Sthan Mandir in Gola Tehsil, proposed by MLA Shri Rajesh Tripathi from Chillupar

  • Beautification of Jharkhandi Mahadev Mandir in Campierganj Tehsil, proposed by MLA Shri Fateh Bahadur Singh

  • Development of the ancient Shiv Mandir in Khoraabar, as proposed by MLA Shri Vipin Singh

These projects are expected to not only preserve and enhance the spiritual heritage of the region but also generate increased tourist footfall, thereby contributing to the local economy.
