New Delhi: Yuzvendra Chahal became the first bowler to get to the milestone of 200 wickets in IPL. Here’s his journey to the landmark in numbers:

17It has taken 17 years for a bowler to breach the 200-wicket milestone in IPL. RP Singh was the first to the 50-wicket milestone in 2010 while Lasith Malinga was the first to get to both 100 and 150-wicket milestone, which he achieved in 2013 and 2017 respectively.

3Chahal became the third bowler to take 200+ wickets in a tournament. The two other player to do so before him are Danny Briggs and Samit Patel, who achieved it in the oldest T20 competition – the T20 Blast in England.

3 Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the three spinners to win the Purple Cap award (most wickets in a season) in IPL for his aggregate of 27 wickets for RR in 2022 edition. The ones to do previously were Praghyan Ojha who took 21 wickets for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2010 and Imran Tahir who bagged 26 scalps for CSK in 2019.

27 wickets by yuzvendra Chahal in IPL 2022 is the joint-most by a spinner in a single edition of IPL alongside 27 by Rashid Khan for Gujarat Titans in 2023. Among Indian bowlers, there are only two instances of a bowler taking more wickets in a season: Harshal Patel (32 in 2021) and Mohammed Shami (28 in 2023).

5Instances of Chahal picking 20+ wickets in a season – the most times by any bowler, one more than the next best of four by Malinga. The next-best among spinners is three each by Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan.
