Yudh Abhyas 2025: Indian and US Troops Conduct Joint Military Drills in Alaska

Washington | The 21st edition of the India–US joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 is underway at Fort Wainwright in Alaska, showcasing the growing defense cooperation between the two nations. The exercise, which began last week with an opening ceremony, will continue until September 14.

According to the Indian Embassy in Washington, soldiers from both countries carried out live-fire drills in Alaska on Monday. Around 450 personnel from each side are taking part, focusing on field training, command post operations, and subject-matter exchanges.

This year’s exercise, one of the largest bilateral drills for the Indian Army, features mountain and high-altitude training in sub-arctic conditions, along with heliborne operations, casualty evacuation, counter-drone systems, and electronic warfare tactics.

The Indian Army’s Madras Regiment is participating alongside the US Army’s 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment (“Bobcats”), part of the 11th Airborne Division’s Arctic Wolves brigade.

Yudh Abhyas remains a cornerstone of India–US military engagement, aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening trust between the two democracies.
