New Delhi | The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has entered a new phase of leadership with the unanimous election of Nitin Nabin, a 45-year-old leader from Bihar, as its new National President. With this, Nabin has become one of the youngest leaders to take charge of the world’s largest political party, marking a significant generational shift in the BJP’s organisational structure.
According to Returning Officer K. Laxman, a total of 37 sets of nomination papers were filed in support of Nitin Nabin, all of which were found valid. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the key proposers of Nabin’s candidature, reflecting strong backing from the party’s top leadership.
The first set of nomination papers was submitted in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including outgoing party president and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, and Kiren Rijiju. Additional nominations were filed by leaders from several states, including Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, underlining the wide consensus within the party.
Nitin Nabin is set to formally assume office on January 20, during an official ceremony to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders. His elevation is being seen as a clear signal of the BJP’s emphasis on nurturing younger leadership while maintaining ideological continuity.
