Yogi Government’s Crackdown: ‘White Coat Love Jihad’ Accused Arrested in Lucknow

Lucknow: Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their action against illegal religious conversion and crimes against women. In a major development, Lucknow Police have arrested Dr. Rameezuddin Nayak alias Rameez, accused of exploiting his identity as a doctor to commit serious crimes under the guise of marriage.

According to police, the accused allegedly lured an MD Pathology student of KGMU into a relationship by promising marriage, sexually assaulted her over a long period, and later pressured her to undergo an abortion without consent. He is also accused of forcing the victim to convert her religion. Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered at Chowk police station on December 23, 2025, under stringent sections of the law.

During investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly adopted a similar modus operandi with another medical student, involving sexual exploitation, forced abortion, and religious conversion. The probe also revealed the involvement of his family members. His father, Salimuddin, and mother, Khateja, have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. Names of other associates have also surfaced.

Considering the seriousness of the case, the Yogi government had announced a reward of ₹50,000 on the absconding accused. Following a joint operation by Chowk police and the West Lucknow surveillance team, and acting on specific intelligence inputs, Dr. Rameezuddin Nayak alias Rameez was arrested on Friday afternoon near City Station, Lucknow Gate.

Police officials stated that the accused is a habitual offender who misused his medical identity to commit crimes. Further investigation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other cases, and legal proceedings are in progress.

The Yogi government has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, making it clear that those committing crimes under the cover of respectability, including the “white coat,” will not be spared. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, women’s safety remains a top priority for the state.
