Yogi Government Transfers Land for Permanent Campus of English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad

LUCKNOW: The Yogi government has transferred land for the establishment of a permanent campus for the Lucknow branch of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. The move aims to promote quality education in English and other foreign languages. The campus, which will be built on a 2.3239-hectare plot, has been leased to the university for Rs. 1 per year.

The land transfer ceremony was held at the residence of Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay. He was joined by Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari, Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, Principal Secretary of Higher Education M.P. Aggarwal, Special Secretary Nidhi Srivastava, Secretary Amit Tripathi, EFLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Nagaraju, Registrar Prof. M. Hariprasad, Director of the Lucknow campus Prof. Rajneesh Arora, and other dignitaries.

The new campus, located in Chakoli village, will offer regular programs such as B.A. (Hons) English, M.A. English, M.A. Linguistics, M.A. English Literature, PGDTE, and Ph.D., as well as part-time courses in French, German, Russian, and Spanish. The university is currently operating from a temporary location at the RTTC Complex on Kanpur Road.

Speaking at the event, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said the government is committed to providing world-class linguistic education to the youth of Uttar Pradesh. He expressed confidence that the permanent campus would significantly improve the quality of education and facilities.

Prof. N. Nagaraju, the Vice-Chancellor of EFLU, thanked the Uttar Pradesh government and called the land transfer a crucial step for the long-term development of the institution. He assured that the Lucknow campus would become a hub of excellence for linguistic education and research.

The land, with an initial estimated value of Rs. 9,29,56,000, was transferred to the Higher Education Department and subsequently leased to the university for Rs. 1 per annum after the state cabinet’s approval. The formal lease deed was executed on August 12, 2025. The event was moderated by Prof. Rajneesh Arora, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
