Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make its welfare schemes more effective, transparent, and corruption-free. The Department of Social Welfare is taking significant steps to strengthen the monitoring of key initiatives such as old-age pensions, family benefit schemes, scholarships, and mass marriage programs through advanced technology.
The primary objective of this move is not only to ensure that benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries but also to make administrative processes paperless, faster, and more accountable.
AI to Ensure Transparency and Accountability
To tackle irregularities and eliminate loopholes in welfare programs, the Social Welfare Department is considering the adoption of an AI-driven monitoring system. Recently, a special workshop on “Use of AI in Welfare Schemes” was organized in the presence of Social Welfare Minister (Independent Charge) Aseem Arun.

Through AI-powered systems, data verification, beneficiary identification, and scheme implementation will become more precise. Officials believe this will help curb malpractices and ensure that benefits are delivered to genuine recipients in a timely manner.
Focus on Transparent Delivery of Benefits
Several initiatives are already underway to bring transparency and ease to the department’s flagship schemes such as the scholarship program, the National Family Benefit Scheme, and old-age pensions. For instance, the scholarship system has been simplified with the introduction of a one-time registration number, sparing students the need for repeated registrations every academic year. This change not only saves time but also ensures hassle-free access to benefits.

The integration of AI will further enhance the system by filtering out fraudulent applications and expediting the approval process. With real-time data analysis and verification, only legitimate applicants will be able to avail themselves of the schemes, while fake entries will be swiftly detected and rejected.
Moving Towards a Paperless, Digital Future
The Yogi government’s initiative is set to mark a milestone in digitizing welfare delivery. By adopting a paperless approach, the department will cut down on cumbersome documentation and speed up the execution of schemes. AI-enabled tools will revolutionize data management, beneficiary verification, and scheme monitoring, thereby making governance more efficient and transparent.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has repeatedly emphasized that the benefits of government schemes must reach the last person in the queue. The upcoming AI-based monitoring framework is expected to play a crucial role in realizing that vision.
According to officials, the Social Welfare Department will soon finalize a detailed action plan for rolling out AI-based monitoring across its flagship programs, marking a decisive step towards an accountable, technology-driven welfare system.
