Yogi Government Promotes Drone Technology to Boost Farmers’ Income

Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is taking concrete steps to double farmers’ income by integrating agriculture with modern technology. A major initiative under this vision is the use of drones for spraying nano urea and pesticides, which has already begun as a pilot project in six districts, including Lucknow.

This innovative approach is significantly improving efficiency—covering 3 to 12 acres of farmland in just one hour. The precision offered by drones ensures better crop coverage, increased yields, and substantial time and labor savings for farmers.

Empowering Agriculture Through Innovation

This initiative is part of broader schemes like the Atmanirbhar Krishak Samanvit Vikas Yojana and the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), both of which aim to enhance farmers’ income by providing access to better tools, resources, and market connectivity.

The state has launched a total of nine drone-based agriculture projects across Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Muzaffarnagar (two each), and one each in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur Nagar. These pilot projects are not only focused on implementation but also emphasize training farmers in drone operation and modern agricultural techniques.

Training Farmers in Smart Agriculture

In addition to deploying drones in the field, technical training sessions are being conducted for farmers, equipping them with knowledge of smart agriculture and hands-on experience in operating drone equipment. This dual strategy ensures that farmers are not just passive beneficiaries but active participants in the tech-driven transformation of agriculture in the state.

The UP government intends to expand the drone project to more districts in the coming months. By monitoring crop health and administering timely pesticide and fertilizer sprays with pinpoint accuracy, drone technology is set to revolutionize farming in the region.

A Vision for the Future

The adoption of this scientific and precision-based agricultural approach reflects Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable and smart farming practices. Officials say this move will empower farmers, improve productivity, and make agriculture more resilient and profitable in the years ahead.

With these innovations, the Yogi government is positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in agri-tech advancement, paving the way for a new era of self-reliant, technology-driven farming.
