World’s Largest Food Mega-Event ‘Gulfood 2026’ Begins in Dubai; India Participates as Partner Country for the First Time

Dubai: The world’s largest food and beverage trade exhibition, Gulfood 2026, has officially begun in Dubai, marking the 31st edition of the globally acclaimed mega-event. This year’s Gulfood is being hailed as the biggest food and beverage trade show ever, both in scale and participation.

For the first time in its history, Gulfood is being held simultaneously at two major venues — the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai. With this expansion, the total exhibition area has grown to nearly 280,000 square metres, almost double the size of the previous edition, reflecting the rapidly growing global demand and participation in the food trade sector.

Participation from 195 Countries, Over 8,500 Exhibitors

Gulfood 2026 has brought together representatives from 195 countries and features more than 8,500 exhibitors, making it a key global platform for the food supply chain, agricultural innovation, and international export opportunities. Several countries, including Oman and Bangladesh, are participating through official national pavilions, further underlining the event’s international significance.

India Joins as ‘Partner Country’ for the First Time

This year’s event holds special importance for India, as it is participating for the first time as a ‘Partner Country’. Over 161 Indian agri-food exhibitors from 25 states are showcasing a wide range of products, including basmati rice, processed foods, frozen products, pulses, and other agriculture-based goods. Industry experts believe India’s prominent presence will significantly boost agri-export opportunities and further strengthen India–UAE trade relations.

Presence of UAE Leadership

The Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, also visited the exhibition, praising Gulfood’s global relevance and its role in shaping the future of the international food and beverage industry. His presence added further prestige to the landmark event.

Showcase of Indian Flavours and Culture

Alongside commercial exhibits, Gulfood 2026 is also highlighting cultural diversity. Traditional Indian delicacies, including Bihar’s famous Silao Khaja, are being showcased to a global audience, offering a glimpse into India’s rich culinary heritage.

Overall, Gulfood 2026 has emerged not only as a premier global platform for the food and beverage industry but also as a crucial opportunity for India to showcase its agricultural strength, food innovation, and export potential on the international stage.
