Lucknow – The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow, commemorated World Environment Day with a series of impactful events centred on this year’s global theme – “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
The event emphasized the urgent need for strict implementation of environmental regulations and increasing public awareness regarding the harmful effects of plastic use and the importance of its management.
Institute Director, Prof. Vineet Kansal, addressed the students, stressing the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic. He also led a special tree plantation drive titled “One Tree in the Name of Mother,” where faculty members and students came together to plant saplings across the campus.

Guest speaker Dr. Pradeep Kumar elaborated on the adverse impact of plastic on human health and the environment, underlining the need for consistent awareness campaigns. Dr. Arun Kumar highlighted the critical role every citizen must play in protecting water, land, and air from pollution.
Prof. Neelam Srivastava expressed concern about the harmful effects of plastic waste on aquatic life and voiceless domestic animals, and praised small-scale industries working on plastic waste management solutions.
On this occasion, Prof. Subodh Vairya welcomed the guests and presented them with Tulsi plants as a gesture of environmental harmony and respect.
The event served as a reminder of the shared responsibility in tackling plastic pollution and building a sustainable future through education and community engagement.
