Gorakhpur: An announcement by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has paved the way for the construction of a rowing sports center in Gorakhpur. The Chief Minister has said that the government will provide space to the Rowing Federation of India (RFI) in the Water Sports Complex to build a world class rowing sports center near Ramgarhtal. He also said that efforts will be made to advance the possibilities of water sports in all the big lakes of the state.
Addressing the players and the public present at the closing ceremony of the 25th Sub Junior National Rowing Championship held at Ramgarhtal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that there are immense possibilities in the field of rowing in Uttar Pradesh. There is a need to hone talents. Our rowing players can participate in the Olympics and other global competitions and win medals. To hone talents in rowing, the government will provide space in the world class water sports complex built near Ramgarhtal to open a rowing sports center on the request of the Rowing Federation of India. Along with this, the state government will also provide all kinds of support to take the center forward.
Possibilities of rowing will also be explored in other big lakes of the state: The Chief Minister said that there are many natural lakes in UP, efforts will be made to advance the possibilities of rowing there too.
CM Yogi, while referring to UP players who won medals in the Asian Games and other international level rowing competitions, Laxman Awardee and Youth Welfare Officer of Deoria Puneet Baliyan, Laxman Awardee Kudrat Ali, Arvind Singh of Bulandshahr, Mohammad Azad of Sultanpur, Lokesh Kumar of Hapur and Rajesh Kumar of Sant Kabir Nagar, said that these rowing players have increased the prestige of the state in the country and the world.
Sports is also a powerful medium to make a great career
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that along with keeping the body and mind healthy, sports has now become a powerful medium to make a great career. He informed that the state government has made a sports policy and issued a government order to give direct employment in government services to the players of UP who have won medals in competitions like Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games. Lalit Upadhyay, a medal winning hockey team player in Tokyo Olympics, has been given the job of Deputy SP in UP Police. An announcement has been made today to give a job to this time’s Olympic medal winning player Rajkumar Pal. The Chief Minister said that till now more than 500 players have been linked to government services.
Double engine government working with full commitment for sports and players
The Chief Minister said that the double engine government is working with full commitment to promote sports and encourage players. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Khelo India, MP Sports Competition, Fit India Movement etc. have created an excellent environment for sports in the country. CM Yogi said that the government has taken several steps to promote sports and players in the state and encourage them. Under this, sports grounds and open gyms are being built in all 57 thousand gram panchayats of the state on war footing, mini stadiums at block level and stadiums at district level. He said that the construction of the state’s first and world class sports university in the name of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand is also going on at a fast pace in Meerut.
Arrangement to give Rs 6 crore to UP player who wins gold medal in Olympics
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that to encourage the players, the state government has made a provision to give Rs 6 crore to the gold medal winner in the Olympic single event, Rs 4 crore to the silver medal winner and Rs 2 crore to the bronze medal winner. In the team event of Olympics, this amount is Rs 3, 2 and 1 crore respectively. The players of the state participating in the Olympics are given an incentive amount of Rs 10 lakh. He told that the gold medal winner of Asian Games is given a prize of Rs 3 crore, silver medal winner Rs 1.5 crore and bronze medal winner Rs 75 lakh. In Commonwealth Games and World Championship, gold medalist is given Rs. 1.5 crore, silver medalist Rs. 75 lakh and bronze medalist Rs. 50 thousand. Similarly, in SAF and National Games also, winners are rewarded with cash.
Government is giving full financial help to players
CM Yogi said that the government is appointing old players as coaches and giving them honorarium of Rs. 1.5 lakh per month. Financial assistance of Rs. 20 thousand per month is being given by the government to the players of the state who have won Padma award. Along with this, financial assistance of Rs. 10 thousand per month is given to disabled international level players, Rs. 6 thousand to national level players and Rs. 4 thousand per month to state level players. He told that 140 players in the state have been given financial assistance from Eklavya Sports Fund.
With the blessings of Lord Ram, Ramgarhtal has become a centre of attraction and competition. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was pleased with the organisation of national level rowing competition for the second time in Ramgarhtal, said that this is a moment of extra happiness for him. 10 years ago, Ram Garhtal, which was a stronghold of crime in eastern Uttar Pradesh, has today become a stronghold of attraction and water sports competitions with the grace of Lord Ram. The Chief Minister said that this is where real change takes place. Ramgarhtal has become a great destination for sports along with tourism. Many hotels have opened around it, a floating restaurant has also started in the lake. The Chief Minister congratulated everyone on Deepawali and said that when we think good, our positive energy is used in the upliftment of society and the nation.
CM Yogi boosted the enthusiasm of rowing players
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath boosted the enthusiasm of the players by observing the final match (500 meters, double sculls girls and coxless four boys) of the Sub Junior National Rowing Championship. He praised the passion of the players a lot. Earlier, when young players and sports lovers welcomed CM Yogi with folded hands on reaching the venue, he accepted their greetings by shaking hands with these children.

At the closing ceremony of the Sub Junior National Rowing Championship, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare (Independent Charge) Girish Chandra Yadav said that Uttar Pradesh is becoming the best state under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under the leadership of CM Yogi, Uttar Pradesh is becoming a hub of sports by providing all kinds of infrastructure and facilities for sports and players. The Sports Minister said that it is due to CM Yogi’s vision regarding sports that a national level rowing competition has been held for the second time in Ramgarhtal, Gorakhpur. With the success of two competitions, there is full hope that next time an international level competition will be held here. He said that with the inspiration of the Chief Minister on the Tapabhoomi of Guru Gorakhnath, the growing steps of rowing sport will be seen in the entire state and country.

Maharashtra team became overall champion
Maharashtra won the trophy for becoming the overall champion on the basis of performance in the boys and girls category in the 25th Sub Junior National Rowing Championship. The Maharashtra team won the boys category championship and the Punjab team won the girls category championship. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath rewarded these teams by giving them trophies. He rewarded the medal winning players of the last day’s competition by presenting them with medals.
