Agra: Indian cricket star and 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup champion Deepti Sharma has been promoted to the prestigious rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The state government announced the promotion as a mark of recognition for her exceptional contribution to Indian cricket.
During the recent World Cup, Deepti showcased an all-round masterclass, scoring 215 runs and taking 22 wickets, playing a pivotal role in India’s historic title win. Congratulating her, DGP Rajeev Krishna said that Deepti’s achievements have brought immense pride to the nation, the state, and the police force. “Her dedication and discipline are an inspiration for young athletes across India,” he remarked.
A native of Agra, Deepti has long been a symbol of perseverance and excellence. Agra Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar held a video call with the newly promoted officer to extend his congratulations, lauding her decisive performances and her contribution to the nation’s glory. “Deepti has elevated the reputation of the Uttar Pradesh Police and the entire state on the global stage,” he said, adding that the police fraternity is immensely proud of her.

Notably, Deepti Sharma has also been named in the ICC’s Team of the Tournament, alongside Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, cementing her place among the finest performers of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.
