World Bank President Ajay Banga Meets CM Yogi and Reviews Key Development Projects

Lucknow– World Bank President Ajay Banga arrived in Lucknow  for a one-day visit, aimed at assessing and supporting development initiatives in Uttar Pradesh. During his visit, Banga is scheduled to participate in multiple programs across Lucknow and Barabanki and hold key meetings with state leadership.

As part of his official engagements, Banga will attend a roundtable meeting with key stakeholders in the presence of Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. He  met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the latter’s official residence for a courtesy interaction.

The visit highlights the World Bank’s growing interest in Uttar Pradesh’s rapid transformation under the Yogi government’s leadership. According to a state government statement, Banga’s visit underscores the global community’s recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious economic vision, particularly its target of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

Focus on Nutrition and Women Empowerment

As part of his field visits, Banga will inspect the Take-Home Ration (THR) plant located in Chinhat Block, Lucknow. The plant is a crucial part of the state’s initiative to improve nutritional outcomes for women and children under government welfare schemes.

Beekeeping Centre and SHG Interaction in Barabanki

Following his Lucknow engagements, Banga will travel to Barabanki where he will visit the Beekeeping Centre in Rajouli. There, he will interact with members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to understand grassroots-level entrepreneurship and livelihood development efforts being supported in rural areas.

Concluding with a Development Meet at Hotel Taj

The World Bank President will conclude his visit by participating in a formal program at Hotel Taj in Lucknow before returning to New Delhi. The visit is being seen as a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between the World Bank and the state government, particularly in the areas of inclusive growth, women empowerment, agriculture, and rural development.
