CM Yogi released a video message on ‘International Women’s Day’

“If opportunities and determination come together, women of UP can reach even the heights of space”: CM

CM urges a pledge to promote women’s dignity and ensure their safety

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday released a video message extending greetings to all women of the state on International Women’s Day. He said that in Indian culture, women are not considered merely the center of the family but are regarded as the fundamental inspiration of creation, strength and values.

He quoted the ancient Sanskrit verse “Yatra naryastu pujyante, ramante tatra devata”, meaning that where women are respected, divine presence resides. According to him, this is not just an ideal statement but a reflection of India’s life philosophy that has helped keep society sensitive, balanced and cultured.

Chief Minister said, “In today’s context, women’s respect is not limited to social prestige but is closely linked to their education, safety, health and self-reliance. When women become empowered, they not only transform their own lives but also strengthen families, guide society in the right direction and accelerate the nation’s development.”

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women’s empowerment has been made a key pillar of national development. Schemes such as the ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri SVAMITVA Yojana’, ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and ‘Ayushman Bharat’ have given millions of women new dignity and the power of self-reliance.

CM said, “Double-engine government” in UP has placed women’s safety, dignity and self-reliance at the highest priority. Soon after the formation of government in 2017, ‘Anti Romeo Squad’ was formed to ensure the safety of daughters. Today, more than 44,000 women are actively serving in UP Police. Through the ‘Mission Shakti’ initiative, a widespread atmosphere of awareness and respect for women has been created across the state.

Chief Minister stated that true empowerment of women is possible only when they become economically self-reliant. In UP nearly one crore women are now associated with self-help groups, creating new opportunities in livelihoods and entrepreneurship. Rural women are increasing family income through agriculture, food processing, handicrafts and several small enterprises, while also strengthening the local economy. Through digital platforms, their products are reaching markets across the country and the world.

State government is also providing new opportunities to strengthen women entrepreneurship. Initiatives such as ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana’, ‘Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana’, ‘Rani Laxmibai Scooty Yojana’ and ‘Mahila Udyami Utpad Vipadan Yojana’ aim to support women at every stage of life.

Chief Minister said it is a matter of pride that women of UP are excelling in every field. He cited the example of Ritu Karidhal from Lucknow, who played a significant role in India’s space missions such as the ‘Mars Orbiter Mission’ and ‘Chandrayaan’, bringing pride to the nation. This shows that if given opportunities and determination, women of UP can reach even the heights of space.

CM urged everyone to create an environment where every girl is safe, every woman can live with dignity and every woman gets equal opportunities to fulfill her dreams. On this International Women’s Day, he called upon people to pledge that they will promote women’s dignity, ensure women’s safety and make women’s self-reliance an integral part of life. He said that together everyone can contribute to building UP where every woman’s dreams are given new wings.
