Lucknow: Women representatives from various sectors were honoured during a special ceremony held in Lucknow to mark International Women’s Day. The event was presided over by Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhavan’s Jan Bhavan auditorium.
The ceremony brought together women achievers from diverse fields, including vice-chancellors of nine universities, police and administrative officers, teachers, women entrepreneurs, agricultural groups, and government-supported self-help groups. As part of the programme, two leading women entrepreneurs from the Bareilly region who launched startups under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan were also honoured.
Entrepreneurs Nishu Sharma and Hemanti from Bareilly received certificates of recognition at the event for establishing startups in podcasting and IT support services and a fitness gym school, respectively.
During the ceremony, the Governor appreciated the contributions of women working in various sectors and encouraged them to expand their efforts in areas such as solar power, soy-based products, dairy, nurseries, and technology. She also urged women to embrace challenges, develop leadership capacity, and actively contribute to the vision of Developed India @ 2047.

The Governor further highlighted the importance of girls’ health and nutrition, free availability of cervical cancer vaccines, educational initiatives for child protection homes, and strengthening cultural values among the youth.
Vice-Chancellor KP Singh congratulated the entrepreneurs and said it was a matter of pride that women from Bareilly were honoured on the occasion of International Women’s Day after successfully launching startups under the state government scheme.
As per directions from Raj Bhavan, the university appointed Dr Jyoti Pandey as the nodal officer to coordinate participation in the event. She accompanied the two entrepreneurs to Lucknow. University officials, including Registrar Harish Chandra and other faculty members, also extended their congratulations and best wishes to the awardees.
