Woman Murdered, Husband Injured in Robbery Attack in Bareilly; Police Investigate

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh – A couple returning from a pilgrimage to Purnagiri was brutally attacked by unknown assailants in Bareilly, resulting in the murder of the wife and severe injuries to the husband. The incident, suspected to be a robbery attempt, has sent shockwaves through the police department, which has launched a full-scale investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Amarvati (35), and her husband, Om Sharan, sustained critical injuries. Both are residents of Byuli village, Wazirganj (Badaun).

According to reports, Om Sharan and Amarvati had visited Purnagiri and were returning from her in-laws’ village, Motipura in Aonla. Despite advice from relatives to avoid night travel due to their children being alone at home, they decided to proceed on their motorcycle.

As the couple reached the Kanthri Temple on the Aonla-Wazirganj road, they were ambushed by more than half a dozen armed assailants. After looting cash and jewelry, the attackers brutally assaulted the couple when they resisted. Om Sharan recounted that the assailants struck his wife repeatedly on her face and head with a sharp weapon, leaving her bleeding profusely on the road. She was rushed to the community health center, where doctors declared her dead.

Following the attack, the injured husband first informed his relatives, who then alerted the police. A Dial 112 team promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the hospital. The news of Amarvati’s death caused immense grief among her family members.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anurag Arya, along with SP South Anshika Verma, SP Crime, SOG, Surveillance Unit, and the forensic team, immediately reached the crime scene to collect evidence. The police have registered a case, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Forensic experts have also gathered crucial clues from the site.

SSP Anurag Arya stated that a case has been registered, and investigations are underway. Preliminary findings suggest that there were around six attackers. Technical surveillance is being utilized to identify and apprehend all the suspects. SSP Arya assured that the culprits would be arrested soon and stringent action would be taken against them.
