Lucknow – A 25-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the Hulas Kheda canal in the Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow on Tuesday night. Police have taken the woman’s husband and a tenant into custody for questioning, suspecting foul play.
According to Inspector Dilesh Kumar Singh, the police received a call around 10 PM reporting a bike accident near Hulas Kheda village. When officers reached the scene, they discovered the body of the woman, identified as Muskan (25), lying by the canal. Her body bore deep stab wounds in the abdomen, suggesting the use of a sharp-edged weapon.
Just a few meters away from the body, her husband Arif was found lying on the ground. He claimed they were hit by an unknown vehicle while riding a bike. However, the nature of the injuries and the circumstances of the scene led police to suspect that this was not a road accident but a possible case of murder.
Following preliminary interrogation, police detained Arif and a male tenant who was staying at the couple’s rented house. Investigators believe Muskan may have been stabbed to death and the accident theory could be a cover-up.
Arif, it has emerged, was in a second marriage with Muskan. The woman’s family, residents of Jalaun, have been informed, and a formal case will be registered based on their complaint.
The police are awaiting the postmortem report, which will provide clarity on the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, both detainees are being questioned further as part of the ongoing investigation.
