Lucknow: The Annual General Meeting and election of the new executive committee of Uttar Pradesh Hockey were successfully conducted at the auditorium of K.D. Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow. The meeting was presided over by Abhijeet Sarkar, Senior Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, and witnessed the participation of key dignitaries and officials from across the state and national hockey and sports administration.
Representing Hockey India at the event was Nitin Kohli, Vice President of the national body, while Anandeshwar Pandey, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association, was also present to lend institutional support to the proceedings. Oversight of the elections was ensured by Animesh Saxena, Regional Sports Officer from Ayodhya, deputed as an observer by the Uttar Pradesh Directorate of Sports. The election process was conducted under the supervision of Sudhir Sharma, retired PPS, as Election Officer, with assistance from Rakesh Shukla, retired DG Stamps and a senior advocate of the High Court, serving as the Deputy Election Officer. Their presence ensured that the proceedings were conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
The gathering included a strong representation from district units affiliated with Uttar Pradesh Hockey. During the meeting, representatives from all the districts participated actively and unanimously elected the new executive body for the upcoming term. Dr. R.P. Singh was elected as President of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, bringing with him a vision to strengthen the grassroots structure of the sport in the state. Abhijeet Sarkar, a key figure in the organization and known for his longstanding contribution, was re-elected as Senior Vice President. The Vice Presidents elected include a diverse group of individuals: Dr. Sudharma Singh, Sanjay Gautam, Subodh Khandkar, Tajender Pal Singh, Pratima Rathore, Neelam Singh, and Arshi Parveen Siddiqui, reflecting a mix of experience and fresh perspective.
Rajneesh Kumar Mishra was chosen as the General Secretary, entrusted with the responsibility of executing day-to-day operations and steering the organization’s future agenda. The team of Joint Secretaries includes Avinash Srivastava, Digvijay Pratap Singh, Paul Devendra, Gopal Narayan Mishra, Tripti Awasthi, Menka Tok, and Kirti Bhadauria, who are expected to bring collaborative synergy and outreach to different regions of the state. . Nisha Mishra has been elected as Treasurer and will be responsible for ensuring financial transparency and robust fund management.
The Executive Committee members include Rajkamal, Anil Vikram Singh, Hanuman Pratap Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Sarika Srivastava, Shadma Shahid, and Rashmi Singh. Their role will be pivotal in implementing policies, supporting tournaments, and bridging coordination among district-level units.
All the newly elected office bearers were warmly congratulated by representatives from across Uttar Pradesh, as well as by Nitin Kohli of Hockey India and Anandeshwar Pandey of the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association. They appreciated the smooth conduct of the elections and expressed hope that the new team would work towards taking Uttar Pradesh Hockey to greater heights.
In his closing address, Dr. R.P. Singh, the newly elected President, extended his heartfelt thanks to all the members for reposing their faith in him and the new team. He emphasized the need for collective efforts and committed himself and his team to the cause of expanding and strengthening hockey across the state. He appealed to all district units to remain proactive and united in their mission of promoting the sport and nurturing talent from the grassroots level. With the formation of this new committee, Uttar Pradesh Hockey aims to bring new energy and direction to the sport, ensuring its prominence both within the state and on the national stage.
