Welthy Fisher Children’s Academy Granted UP Board Intermediate Affiliation, Empowering Marginalized Students

Lucknow – In a major step towards expanding affordable education for underprivileged communities, Welthy Fisher Children’s Academy, operating under the aegis of the India Literacy Board, has been officially granted Intermediate-level recognition by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. The approval came through government order no. 912/15-7-2025-1(02)/2025 dated July 18, 2025, issued by the state’s Secondary Education Department.

The academy, located at Saksharta Niketan, Kanpur Road, Lucknow, has been in operation since 1988, offering education up to the high school level. With this recent recognition, students from Humanities and Commerce streams can now continue their studies up to Class 12 under the UP Board curriculum without needing to shift to other institutions.

A Vision for Equitable Education

Dr. Welthy Fisher, the founder of the India Literacy Board, envisioned an inclusive educational ecosystem, and this institution has been fulfilling that vision for over 37 years. It has consistently provided low-cost education to economically weaker students, ensuring access to quality schooling regardless of financial background.

Speaking on the occasion,  Sanjay R. Bhusreddy, IAS (Retd.), President of the India Literacy Board, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Uttar Pradesh and especially to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for prioritizing student welfare, character development, and seamless educational progress in the state.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Student-Centric Facilities

Bhusreddy highlighted that significant infrastructure upgrades have been made at the academy:

  • 12 new classrooms built in addition to the existing structure
  • Smart boards installed in all classrooms
  • CCTV surveillance throughout the campus
  • Full Wi-Fi connectivity via single cable networking system
  • Sports facilities, including basketball and football courts, along with swings for young children
  • Separate toilets for nursery children
  • Advanced fire safety infrastructure like exit staircases, pressure pumps, hose reels, and water storage tanks

Academic Offerings in Humanities and Commerce Streams

Under the new affiliation, the academy will offer the following subjects:

  • Humanities Stream: Hindi/General Hindi, History, Civics, Psychology, Education, Music (Vocal), Sociology, and Stitching
  • Commerce Stream: General Hindi, Accountancy, and Business Studies

The academy has also announced a three-month fee waiver for new admissions to Class 11 for economically weaker students.

Call for Admissions

Welthy Fisher Children’s Academy has urged students and parents from both streams to approach the school administration at the earliest for admissions and take advantage of this newly granted affiliation. With its affordable fees, upgraded infrastructure, and commitment to inclusive education, the school is set to empower students to dream bigger and study further.

This recognition marks a significant milestone not just for the institution, but for thousands of marginalized families seeking accessible, high-quality education in Uttar Pradesh.
