Lucknow: In a powerful collaboration for change, WomenShine Chamber of Entrepreneurship (WCE), Bala Foundation, and Innerwheel Club of Lucknow Abhyudaya came together to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day under the campaign theme “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.”
Held at the Saideep Foundation, the event titled “Red Dot Talks – Let’s Normalize the Conversation” aimed at breaking the stigma around menstruation and educating women from underserved communities about menstrual and reproductive health.
Preeti M Shah from Bala Foundation led an insightful session on menstrual hygiene, shedding light on myths, hygiene practices, and the need for open dialogue around periods.

Aparna Mishra, founder of WCE, highlighted the importance of such initiatives for women in low-income communities:
“The women here are being trained in employable skills through Saideep Foundation. It’s crucial that they’re not only economically empowered but also health-aware and confident to speak about their bodies.” This Menstrual Hygiene campaign will be carried by WCE for entire one year impacting more than 5000 women.
Dr. Ranu Singh conducted a health talk on cervical cancer awareness, educating attendees about early symptoms, prevention, and the importance of regular screenings.
Dr. Neera Sharma, an entrepreneur plus Advisor to WCE also told girls about the importance of Self Hygiene.
The event concluded with distribution of sanitary pads by Suneeta Goswami, Aparna Mishra, and Preeti M Shah, ensuring that access to basic menstrual products reaches those in need.
This initiative is part of a larger effort by the collaborators to build a #PeriodFriendlyWorld in 2025, where menstruation is no longer a taboo, but a normalized and respected part of women’s health.
