Lucknow: In a significant breakthrough, a joint operation by the Vibhuti Khand police station and the DCP East surveillance team has led to the arrest of a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹20,000. The accused, identified as Sushil alias Ramesh alias Sonu Pathak, 37, was apprehended for his involvement in a 2015 case related to kidnapping, rape, and the POCSO Act.
Pathak had been evading legal proceedings in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Lucknow. To escape arrest and punishment, he had allegedly submitted a fabricated death certificate in court and had been on the run by concealing his identity.
The court, upon discovering the submitted death certificate to be fraudulent during investigation, had issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) and initiated proceedings under Section 82/83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) against Pathak. The next hearing in the case was scheduled for April 29, 2025.
Following the court’s orders, the DCP East constituted a dedicated team for the immediate arrest of the absconding criminal and announced a reward of ₹20,000 for information leading to his capture. Investigations revealed that after submitting the fake death certificate, Pathak had been consistently on the run, disguising himself and concealing his identity to avoid apprehension.
The persistent efforts of the DCP East surveillance team and the Vibhuti Khand police team ultimately led to Pathak’s arrest. He is now being presented before the Hon’ble Court.
The police team involved in the arrest included Sub-Inspectors Amar Nath Chaurasia, Sandeep Singh Gaur, Rajesh Yadav, Amreesh Dhama, and Mohd. Sohel Khan, along with Head Constables Sandeep Pandey, Sumit Kumar, Amit Kumar, and Jeetendra Singh, and Constables Taranjeet Singh, Vimal Chandra, Ajay Yadav, Shivanand Kharwar, and Pradeep Kumar.
