Vivekananda Hospital Launches Dedicated Trauma Unit for Immediate Emergency Care

Lucknow: In a significant step towards strengthening emergency healthcare services, Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences has announced the launch of a modern trauma unit to provide immediate treatment to accident and critical care patients.

The announcement was made by the hospital’s secretary, Swami Muktinathanand, who stated that the new trauma surgery unit will function in coordination with the emergency department. The unit will operate from 4 PM through the night, ensuring timely medical intervention for patients arriving in critical condition.

He emphasized that many trauma patients—especially those suffering from accidents, severe injuries, or psychological shock—often face long waiting periods at सरकारी hospitals. The new facility aims to bridge this gap by offering prompt and accessible treatment, including life-saving surgical procedures when required.

“Service to patients is service to God,” Swami Muktinathanand said, adding that the initiative has been taken keeping in mind the difficulty patients face in accessing medical care during late hours. The trauma unit is expected to benefit not only residents of Lucknow but also patients from nearby regions who require urgent medical attention.

The newly established unit is equipped with advanced medical infrastructure and will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including experts in orthopedics, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery, pediatric care, and maxillofacial surgery. Additionally, trained trauma and critical care intensivists, along with emergency ICU facilities, ventilators, and other essential support systems, have been put in place.

The trauma care team will operate under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Singh. Key members include Dr. Rahul Singh (Head of Orthopedics), Dr. Prashant Pandey, Dr. Arun Sachdeva, Dr. Himanshu Anand, and CT scan technician Ashish Srivastava.

With this initiative, the hospital aims to significantly improve emergency response capabilities and ensure that critically injured patients receive timely and effective treatment, ultimately saving more lives.
