Mumbai: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series have announced their collaboration on a new war drama titled “Operation Sindoor.” The film is set to depict India’s military retaliation following the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The project will be jointly produced under Agnihotri’s banner I Am Buddha Production and T-Series, and will draw inspiration from Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan. According to the makers, the film is based on meticulously researched real events, with inputs from various branches of the Indian Armed Forces.
The April 22, 2025 attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam claimed 25 Indian lives and one Nepali citizen, leaving several others injured. It was one of the deadliest terrorist strikes in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack, which killed 40 CRPF personnel.

Vivek Agnihotri is known for his films on political and historical subjects. His previous works include The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. His latest project, The Bengal Files, explored the 1946 Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, starring Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher, and released in September 2025.
With Operation Sindoor, Agnihotri and Kumar aim to bring a highly researched military drama to Indian cinema, shedding light on the behind-the-scenes operations of the Indian Armed Forces in response to terrorism.
