Virika Agrawal Clinches Girls’ Under-12 Title; Finalists Decided in Multiple Categories

Lucknow: The Chandra Prakash Agrawal Memorial Second Gyan Dairy Tennis Tournament witnessed thrilling encounters across age categories as young and emerging players delivered impressive performances, keeping spectators engaged with high-quality tennis.

Organised by the SDS Tennis Academy at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility, La Martiniere College, the tournament’s opening day featured intense matches and decisive results in several categories. The highlight of the day was Virika Agrawal’s victory in the Girls’ Under-12 category, where she emerged champion after a closely fought final.

Virika Agrawal showcased composure and skill in the final, defeating Arini Singh in a competitive match by 7-4 (4-3) to lift the Under-12 girls’ title. The match remained evenly poised for most of the duration, with both players displaying strong baseline play and determination, before Virika edged ahead to secure the championship.

In the Boys’ Under-14 category, the semifinal matches produced clear winners. Riddhiman Rajput defeated Vivan Singh convincingly by 4-1, while Tejas Singh overcame Rudransh Pandey with an identical 4-1 scoreline. With these victories, Riddhiman Rajput and Tejas Singh booked their places in the final, setting up an exciting title clash.

The Boys’ Under-10 semifinals also saw spirited performances from young talents. Arsh Kant registered a solid 4-1 win over Adhiraj Singh, demonstrating control and consistency throughout the match. In the second semifinal, Mohammad Hamdan displayed resilience and sharp shot selection to defeat Rudra Chaurasia by 4-2, confirming his spot in the final. Arsh Kant and Mohammad Hamdan will now face each other in the championship match of the category.

In the Boys’ Under-12 category, the semifinal encounters delivered decisive outcomes. Abhay Pal defeated Ayansh by 4-2 in a competitive match, while Vibhor dominated the second semifinal, registering an emphatic 4-0 victory over Jason. Both players advanced to the final with confidence-building performances.

Tournament officials expressed satisfaction with the level of play displayed by participants across categories. They noted that the competition is proving to be an important platform for nurturing young tennis talent and providing valuable match exposure to upcoming players.

With several finals lined up and strong contenders ready for the title clashes, the Second Gyan Dairy Tennis Tournament promises more exciting action in the coming days as young players continue to make their mark on the courts.
