Video of Youth Assaulting Police Officer in Lucknow’s Gangnagar Goes Viral; Accused Arrested

Lucknow – A shocking video from Gangnagar in Lucknow’s Sarojini Nagar area has gone viral on social media, showing a young man assaulting a police sub-inspector. The video captures the youth tearing the officer’s uniform and even snatching off his badge during a heated confrontation.

According to police officials, the incident occurred when Sub-Inspector Ankit Balyan, posted at the Gangnagar police booth, stopped a Safari SUV for repeatedly using a loud hooter in a residential area. The driver, later identified as Shobhit Kashyap, a resident of Gangnagar in Amausi, refused to comply and began abusing the officer.

When SI Ankit asked him to stop using the hooter, Shobhit allegedly got out of his vehicle, used foul language, and started physically assaulting the officer. Seeing the officer was alone, the accused reportedly pushed him around, tore his uniform, and even threatened to get him “dismissed” from duty.

Despite the aggressive behavior, SI Ankit held his ground. He immediately called for backup from the police station, and a team soon arrived and arrested Shobhit Kashyap. His SUV has been seized and he has been taken into custody for further interrogation.

The video of the incident, now widely circulated online, has drawn sharp reactions from netizens, many of whom praised the officer’s courage and composure in dealing with the situation. The Lucknow Police confirmed that legal action is being taken and emphasized that such behavior towards public servants will not be tolerated.

“Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to intimidate or assault police personnel. No one is above the law,” said a senior police official.

Further investigation is underway, and police are reviewing the viral video as part of the evidence in the case.
