Lucknow: In a significant interaction on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with 23 trainee officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the 2023 and 2024 batches at his official residence in Lucknow. The Chief Minister advised the young officers to adopt the mantra of “communication, sensitivity, and positivity” to become successful, efficient, and citizen-centric police leaders.
Addressing the officers, CM Yogi emphasized that Uttar Pradesh, being a vast and diverse state, presents numerous challenges for policing. He urged the trainees to consider their training period as a golden opportunity to learn, understand, and develop a strong policing model.
He said that during district training, the most important skill to develop is the ability to resolve real-life problems effectively and satisfactorily. “Police is always the first responder. A victim’s trust relies on your promptness, language, and sense of priority,” he noted.
The Chief Minister advised trainee officers to study the workings of police stations in detail — including administration, investigation processes, duty management, and the nature of local disputes. He said the police station remains the foundation of policing, and human intelligence continues to be the strongest weapon of any police officer.
“Communication with local people, field presence, and building trust are what make an officer truly strong,” he added.
Highlighting the importance of synergy among different policing units, CM Yogi stressed that understanding the functioning, resources, and challenges of the police station, circle office, and police lines is crucial. The coordination of these three levels, he said, forms the backbone of a district’s security system.

On the subject of interacting with public representatives, the Chief Minister said such communication must remain dignified and composed. A casual approach, he warned, is inappropriate for police officers. Public representatives are the voice of the people, and maintaining good coordination with them strengthens law and order.
CM Yogi placed special emphasis on vigilance against crimes targeting women, cybercrime, and illegal drug networks. He said the nature of crime is changing rapidly; therefore, the response and preparedness of police officers must be equally modern and swift. He encouraged all officers to gain proficiency in digital forensics, cyber tools, and emerging technologies.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said integrity, discipline, and a humanitarian outlook are the greatest assets in police service. The conduct of these young officers will not only shape future law enforcement but will also reinforce public trust and strengthen the security framework of Uttar Pradesh in the years to come.
