Vansh Nandal Stuns Second Seed to Reach Semifinals at Swarup Agrawal Memorial AITA Tennis Tournament

Lucknow: Haryana’s Vansh Nandal delivered a remarkable performance to pull off a major upset and storm into the semifinals of the Swarup Agrawal Memorial AITA Men’s Prize Money Tennis Tournament.

The tournament, carrying a prize purse of ₹1 lakh and sponsored by India Pesticides Limited, is being आयोजित by SDS Tennis Academy at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility.

Nandal’s Gritty Comeback Win

In a thrilling quarterfinal clash, Vansh Nandal defeated second seed Mukil Ramanan of Tamil Nadu 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Nandal showed composure to take the first set, but Mukil bounced back strongly in the second with aggressive play and excellent court coverage. However, Nandal dominated the निर्णायक third set with powerful serves and precise shot-making to seal the victory.

Other Semifinalists Confirmed

Top seed Mayank Sharma of Delhi advanced to the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Haryana’s Sunil Kumar. Delhi’s Vansh Bisht also secured his spot in the last four after defeating Rajasthan’s Amit 6-4, 6-1.

In another quarterfinal, eighth seed Antriya Ohlayan (Haryana) overcame compatriot Upnishad Bhardwaj in a hard-fought three-set match, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-0. After sharing the first two sets, Ohlayan dominated the decider with a flawless display.

Doubles Quarterfinals Deliver Excitement

The doubles event also witnessed intense contests. The duo of Lav Pehal and Jasraj Singh caused a major upset by defeating top seeds Anshuman Singh and Tanishq Jadhav 3-6, 6-4, 12-10 in a super tiebreak.

Third seeds Mukil Ramanan and Rikki Chaudhary beat Saurabh Singh and Upnishad Bhardwaj 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, Vansh Nandal paired with Mayank Sharma to defeat Parth Patil and Antriya Ohlayan 6-1, 6-4.

Sunil Kumar and Eklavya Singh also progressed to the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Amit and Parth Sarathi Sharma.

The tournament continues to showcase emerging tennis talent, with the semifinal clashes promising high-intensity action in Lucknow.
