Lucknow – The Science Faculty of Navayug Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Lucknow, hosted a vibrant welcome ceremony for first-year B.Sc. students, marking the beginning of their academic journey with a blend of tradition, talent, and festivity.
The program commenced with Principal Prof. Manjula Upadhyay offering floral tributes and lighting a lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. She was warmly felicitated with a sapling by senior faculty member Prof. Richa Shukla.
The event featured a colorful cultural lineup. Khushi Mishra and her group entertained the audience with a lively dance on classic Bollywood numbers, while Amandeep and team drew laughter with a witty skit on Gen Z and politics. Prachi Tiwari of the fifth semester recited a humorous poem along with a heartfelt composition dedicated to teachers. Performances by Pallavi and group, as well as Priyanshi and her team, added to the energy with graceful dance numbers.
Students of the first and second years also showcased their flair through singing, poetry, stand-up comedy, and dance, bringing cheer to the freshers. A highlight of the evening was the eagerly awaited Miss Freshers contest, which included a ramp walk and a talent round. The final selection was made on the basis of responses in the Q&A round, judged by Dr. Anurima Banerjee and Dr. Vinita Singh.
Vaidehi Yadav was crowned Miss Freshers, while Saloni Singh and Riddhi Kevalani were declared first and second runners-up respectively. Special titles included Miss Well Dressed for Shraddha Nigam and Miss Best Smile for Muskan Sahu.
Anchoring duties were ably handled by second-year students Ishita, Divyanshi, Samiksha, and Pratishtha, whose quick-witted fillers kept the audience entertained.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Upadhyay congratulated the winners and lauded the students for their enthusiasm and creativity. She emphasized Navayug’s rich legacy and urged the newcomers to focus not only on academics but also on holistic development. She also expressed gratitude to the faculty and staff whose guidance made the event a success.
The ceremony concluded with light refreshments, leaving students with cherished memories of a warm and joyous beginning.
