Lucknow – In a significant move towards child welfare and women’s empowerment, the Women and Child Development Department, Uttar Pradesh, under Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya, is making strides to ensure 1.5 crore children in the state achieve optimal nutrition through the Sambhav Campaign. The initiative, aligned with the vision of Developed India 2047, focuses on strengthening Anganwadi centers, introducing modern technology for growth monitoring, and providing diversified, supplementary nutrition.
During a statewide virtual conference chaired by Union Minister, Women and Child Development, Government of India, and presided over by Uttar Pradesh Minister for Women Welfare, Baby Rani Maurya, key officials including Additional Chief Secretary Leena Johri and Director Sarneet Kaur Broka presented the department’s vision and achievements. Discussions highlighted digital monitoring of children’s growth, facial recognition attendance for hot meals, integrated data systems for health and ICDS, online consultations for beneficiaries, and digital early childhood education (ECCE).
The government has expanded Anganwadi centers, increased funding for new constructions, and upgraded 20,000 centers with modern facilities including smart TVs, RO purifiers, furniture, educational materials, rainwater harvesting, and child-friendly wall paintings. Human resource initiatives include the recruitment and promotion of 19,424 Anganwadi workers, 3,000+ assistants, and 2,425 main workers through a transparent process.

Since inception, the Sambhav Campaign has screened over 1.5 crore children, treating 12 lakh malnourished children and currently running its fifth phase (July–October 2025), aiming to make every child well-nourished and every pregnant woman and adolescent girl healthy and empowered.
