Urban Development Minister’s Counterattack on Opposition

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Urban Development and Energy Minister, A.K. Sharma, emphasized the magnificence and sanctity of Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 while participating in a discussion on the Governor’s address in the state assembly. He stated that devotees who seek divinity at Mahakumbh find spiritual nectar, whereas those looking for shortcomings see only mismanagement.

The minister reiterated that the state government is determined to make Mahakumbh an historic, divine, and grand event. So far, 56.25 crore devotees have bathed in the Triveni Sangam, and more than 70 crore people have visited the Kumbh area. Despite this, the opposition has failed to recognize the significance of this event and appreciate the arrangements made by the government.

Sharma stressed that Mahakumbh is not just a religious gathering but also a symbol of India’s cultural, spiritual, and modern identity. It is taking place in a country that has become the fifth-largest economy and is rapidly advancing towards becoming a digital and self-reliant nation, making this event even more remarkable.

Advanced Facilities at Mahakumbh 2025

The minister highlighted several cutting-edge arrangements made by the government to ensure a smooth and secure Mahakumbh:

  • 250 sensor-based water ATMs for clean drinking water
  • 3,700 AI-powered surveillance cameras for security
  • QR code-based location system on 52,000 electricity poles for better navigation
  • 75,000 streetlights and decorative lighting, making the entire Prayagraj shine brightly

Even NASA astronauts, from the International Space Station, have appreciated the grandeur of Mahakumbh, mentioning that the event is visible from space.

The minister further emphasized the exceptional cleanliness efforts, stating that devotees have shown their gratitude to sanitation workers by touching their feet and joining hands in appreciation.

Opposition Criticized

Taking a jibe at the opposition, Sharma quoted, “Jaki rahi bhavna jaisi, prabhu murat dekhi tin taisi” (meaning, one perceives reality based on their perspective). He remarked that the opposition fails to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts made by the government despite the seamless execution of arrangements for an event of this scale.

Sharma also expressed gratitude towards electricity workers, sanitation staff, and various government departments for their relentless efforts in making Mahakumbh a global success. He concluded by stating that despite the massive crowd, the state government has ensured an unprecedented level of modern infrastructure and organization, setting a new benchmark for large-scale events.
