UPSIDA Fulfills Yogi Government’s Vision of “Clean Water, Green Industry” with Advanced Wastewater Treatment Initiatives
Lucknow/Kanpur: In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ambitious vision of a “Clean Water, Green Industry” ecosystem, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is taking significant strides to ensure sustainable industrial development while prioritizing environmental protection. Through the establishment and upgradation of state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plants, UPSIDA is transforming industrial hubs into models of responsible growth.
Advanced Treatment Projects Underway
Under the leadership of CEO Mayur Maheshwari, UPSIDA is executing cutting-edge water treatment projects across major industrial regions. These include:
- Surajpur WWTP (Gautam Buddha Nagar) – A 6 MLD capacity plant being upgraded with SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) technology at a cost of ₹8.99 crore. The project is expected to be completed by June 2026.
- EPIP Kasna WWTP – A 3.6 MLD capacity plant also being upgraded with SBR technology, with an investment of ₹6.78 crore.
- Loni STP (Ghaziabad) – A 5 MLD capacity MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) plant currently operating at full capacity.
- Loni CETP (Common Effluent Treatment Plant) – Focused on treating effluents from dyeing and textile industries, its capacity is being increased from 6 MLD to 16 MLD with a ₹42 crore investment; the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is already prepared.
Treated Water Reuse for Industrial Efficiency
UPSIDA is repurposing treated wastewater for use in cooling systems, flushing, gardening, and road cleaning in industrial units, promoting water conservation and efficient resource utilization. The authority is also developing dedicated reuse networks, including specialized pipeline infrastructure, to ensure seamless supply of recycled water to industries.
Circular Economy in Action: Zero Waste, Maximum Reuse
Adopting the principle of “Zero Waste – Maximum Reuse,” UPSIDA is actively working towards maximizing the reuse of treated water and reducing waste generation. These efforts are part of a larger circular economy model, aiming for reduced environmental impact while maintaining industrial efficiency.

Solar Energy Integration for Sustainable Operations
Taking a leap toward energy self-reliance, UPSIDA is equipping treatment plants and industrial zones with solar rooftop panels. This shift not only reduces energy costs but also lowers carbon emissions, reinforcing the state’s commitment to green energy and climate responsibility.
Making Uttar Pradesh a Green and Smart Industrial Powerhouse
UPSIDA’s integrated approach aligns with the Yogi government’s focus on sustainable industrialization, pollution control, and conservation of natural resources. Through clean technologies, renewable energy, and efficient infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh is on its way to becoming a smart, green, and self-reliant industrial state.
“UPSIDA’s mission reflects the Chief Minister’s vision of an environmentally responsible industrial Uttar Pradesh. From clean water to solar energy, we are redefining sustainable industrial practices,” said a senior UPSIDA official.
As these transformative projects progress, Uttar Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in eco-industrial development, establishing itself as a model for other states in balancing growth with sustainability.
