UP’s capacity and capability is soaring

Lucknow: The Yogi government is spearheading efforts to implement social reforms and eradicate corruption through innovative strategies. With a focus on transparency, the government is ensuring that the benefits of central and state government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries effectively.

Continuing this effort, a training and workshop on policy-making for social sector schemes was held on Friday at the IIM Lucknow campus. The event was jointly organized by the state’s Social Welfare Department, IIM Lucknow, and the Navotkarsh Policy Group. During the program, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening the state’s capacity and capability through various social welfare policies and programs.

Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun stated, “The true objective of the workshop will be achieved only when we all work together, with unity and full dedication, to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the beneficiaries at the grassroots level.”

He further emphasized the need to ensure beneficiaries receive services through a fair and corruption-free process in the current situation. Arun also stressed the importance of seriously contemplating how to implement the workshop’s findings on the ground.

The Social Welfare Minister further mentioned that the state government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is making every effort to ensure that the schemes designed for the poor and underprivileged reach them without any discrimination.

During the program, Dr Karthik Muralidharan, Tata Chancellor’s Professor of Economics at the University of California, San Diego, and Co-founder of the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States, stated that this is the new Uttar Pradesh of a new India. Over the past seven years, the state has undertaken various innovative experiments in the development of infrastructure and innovation. Despite being the largest state in the country, Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the implementation of various policies and programs.

Muralidharan said, “The objective of the government-operated beneficiary programs is to achieve social and economic upliftment.” He also congratulated the organizers for conducting such a high-level workshop and training session.

In the program, apart from MLA Dr Surabhi, Pratik Singh, T. Ram, MLC Avnish Singh, Saroj Kureel, Dr Hari Om, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sameer Verma, Secretary, Departmental Officers, Ministers and MLAs of various departments were present.
