UPMRC’S PROMPT ACTION PROVES LIFE-SAVING FOR COMMUTER AMID ONGOING HEATWAVE

Lucknow: Lucknow Metro personnel rushed to help a commuter who collapsed due to heat, offering first aid and support until he recovered.

Amid the ongoing heatwave in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) staff came to the timely rescue of a commuter who fainted due to heat exhaustion at Charbagh Metro Station on 11th June 2025, around 5:15 PM. The commuter, Ajay Pandey, a resident of Jankipuram Extension, Lucknow, had just arrived after an overnight journey from New Delhi when he suddenly collapsed near the token counter, overwhelmed by fatigue and high temperatures.

The station’s security team, led by Sub-Inspector Ashok Dixit of the Special Security Staff Force (SSSF), quickly responded. Pandey was offered immediate first aid — seated near a fan for ventilation, given water and glucose, and monitored closely. The Station Controller also coordinated support to ensure his recovery.
Once conscious, Pandey expressed sincere gratitude to the metro staff, saying their timely help potentially saved his life. After regaining strength, he continued his journey safely to University Metro Station and reunited with his family. This incident demonstrates UPMRC’s strong commitment to passenger safety and well-being, especially in adverse weather conditions, and showcases the preparedness and responsiveness of its frontline staff during emergencies.
