New Delhi/Lucknow: In a significant move aimed at enhancing the commuting experience for metro passengers, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi . The agreement seeks to improve mobile connectivity across underground metro stations and tunnels in cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra.
The MoU signing was attended by senior officials, including Naveen Kumar, Director (Rolling Stock), UPMRC.
As part of the collaboration, BSNL will now utilize UPMRC’s existing In-Building Solution (IBS) infrastructure within the underground stretches of the metro networks. This strategic partnership is expected to significantly enhance mobile signal strength and ensure uninterrupted connectivity for passengers traveling through subterranean metro corridors.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of UPMRC, said:
