State-of-the-art facility to train local talent in acting, editing, VFX, and more; job opportunities to follow training
Lucknow – In a significant move aimed at empowering youth and boosting the local film industry, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced the establishment of a modern Film Institute within the upcoming International Film City near the Yamuna Expressway. The institute will offer training in a wide array of disciplines including acting, scriptwriting, film editing, VFX, camera operation, lighting, fashion, and media & mass communication.
Most notably, priority will be given to youth from UP, especially those residing in and around the Yamuna Expressway area, both in terms of admission and job placement after training.
High-Tech Training Ground Spread Over 3 Lakh Sq. Ft.
The Film Institute will be developed in the first phase of the Film City project, which spans 230 acres with an investment of ₹1,510 crore. Covering 3 lakh sq. ft., the institute will be equipped with cutting-edge classrooms, film studios, editing suites, VR labs, and other state-of-the-art facilities.
According to Rajeev Arora, GM of Bayview Bhutani Film City Pvt. Ltd., the company developing the project in collaboration with filmmaker Boney Kapoor, “The Film Institute will be unique in its approach, focusing on hands-on learning through real film projects, ensuring students gain practical industry exposure.”
Local Talent to Get Job Opportunities Within Film City
Arora confirmed that local youth will be given top priority in both training and employment. “Training youth from the Yamuna Expressway region will be more economical and sustainable than bringing talent from Mumbai. We are committed to generating direct employment in the areas of studios, production, lighting, and more within the Film City itself,” he said.
Diverse Curriculum & Industry Partnerships
The institute will offer courses in acting, script and story writing, editing, VFX, camera operation, fashion, and more. In addition, training in film music and spot work will also be part of the curriculum. Strategic partnerships with leading production houses will facilitate workshops, internships, and guest lectures by industry veterans.
To support content creation, a comprehensive resource center will be built within the campus, housing scripts, academic material, and film production archives—serving as a key asset for both students and filmmakers.
Film Premieres and Festivals to Boost Exposure
The Film Institute will have in-house infrastructure to host film premieres, eliminating the need for production houses to travel to other cities. It will also organize film festivals, exhibitions, and competitions to give students a platform to showcase their creativity and build professional networks.
Student amenities will include hostels, cafeterias, health centers, and recreation zones, ensuring a comfortable and inspiring learning environment.
A Launchpad for Talent and Industry Growth
With its futuristic design and holistic curriculum, the Film Institute aims to become a training and employment hub for youth, while also transforming Uttar Pradesh into a major destination for film and entertainment production. The initiative is part of CM Yogi Adityanath’s larger vision to promote regional employment and position the state as a creative powerhouse.
This institute is expected to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between emerging talent and the film industry’s growing demands—an opportunity UP’s youth will no longer have to seek elsewhere.
