Move Aims to Improve Efficiency, Ensure Regular Bus Operations, and Support Conductors Working Away from Home
Lucknow : In a major relief to outsourced bus conductors working with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Shri Dayashankar Singh has announced a new policy allowing mutual transfers of conductors appointed through outsourcing agencies.
Earlier, outsourced conductors were required to serve only in the depot they were first appointed to, without any option of transfer. The new arrangement will allow conductors who have completed at least six months of service and 30,000 kilometers of duty to apply for mutual transfers.

Speaking to the media, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said, “This initiative is aimed at reducing the hardships faced by conductors posted far from their home districts. Many conductors, unable to stay away for long periods, would frequently go on leave or remain absent, which caused operational challenges and financial losses to the corporation.”
Under the revised system, conductors will be able to request mutual transfers with another eligible conductor, allowing them to work in or closer to their home districts. This move is expected to result in a more consistent workforce, reducing absenteeism and improving service reliability.

The Minister highlighted the multiple benefits of this decision:
-
Increased availability of conductors, ensuring more buses operate on schedule.
-
Better utilization of workforce, reducing disruptions in services.
-
Higher revenue generation for UPSRTC through more consistent operations.
-
Improved travel convenience for passengers, who will now have access to regular and timely bus services.
“This decision has been taken keeping in mind the welfare of outsourced conductors,” said Singh, “and it will also significantly contribute to the efficiency and financial health of the transport corporation.”
The policy is expected to be implemented in the coming weeks, with guidelines to be issued to all regional offices and depots across the state.
