LUCKNOW – Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna has issued a state-wide high alert for the police force in preparation for the upcoming Independence Day and Janmashtami festivals. In directives issued on Wednesday, the DGP instructed all police personnel to be especially vigilant during this period and to implement enhanced security measures to ensure law and order.
Comprehensive Security Measures Planned
The DGP has mandated that all significant events and programs associated with both festivals, such as Tiranga Yatras (flag marches), Prabhat Pheris (morning processions), and tableaux, be identified and provided with robust security and traffic management through effective deployment of forces. Anti-sabotage checks are to be conducted at all event venues, with special security arrangements at entry and exit points.
The directives also emphasize heightened security at the entry points of all districts, as well as at railway stations, metro stations, bus stations, airports, cinema halls, multiplexes, entertainment venues, shopping malls, hotels, dharamshalas (rest houses), guest houses, crowded places, and religious sites. All CCTV cameras are to be kept operational.
Furthermore, the DGP has ordered strict vigilance on the operation of microlight aircraft, paragliders, hang gliders, drones, and other unmanned aerial vehicles, with their operation being prohibited during this period.

Intelligence gathering on prohibited and terrorist organizations is to be intensified, and effective action taken against any suspicious activities. Border districts sharing boundaries with other states have been instructed to remain particularly alert to the movements of undesirable elements and organizations.
For Janmashtami celebrations, senior police officials are tasked with assessing the anticipated number of devotees at all events and ensuring appropriate security and traffic management plans are in place. Crucially, the DGP has ordered that all Shobha Yatras (religious processions) and जुलूस (processions) related to both Independence Day and Janmashtami must be videographed to ensure proper documentation and monitoring.
